The Origins of Faith
(Week One, Day One)
Gird Us In Your Faith O Lord
You O Lord, are my light and my salvation, unto You then do I flee, my hope and my faith assured.
Upon the rock of Your blessed refuge do I stand, casting from me the tangible and taking firm hold of the promises made so faithfully amidst Your Word.
Let not my heart be frustrated, let not my spirit crack, let not my soul be trampled, though before me all temporal temptations may rise, though before me all corporeal challenges may move. Gird me with Your strength, and bind me by Your hope that my eyes may forever be fixed upon the blessed end of this long journey, when I shall stand before Your throne on High and find that all my hope shall be fulfilled.
So uplift me O Lord above all that surrounds me that with endurance shall I run this race, safe amidst the dwelling place of Your encompassing love. So edify me O Lord, nourishing me where my spirit does hunger and where my soul does thirst that I shall be sustained in the blessings of Your transcending word.
My heart shall seek Your face, my life shall seek Your touch, that by Your light shall I find the guidance that I so long for, that I so need. Let then Your eyes smile upon me through all the days of my life that I may find favour in Your ways until that day when I come to rest in Your blessed pastures, never to stray.
Hear my voice O Lord, hear my prayers and cast from my body and my mind all my earthly cares.
In the name of Your Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You in the Kingdom, one God, world without end, Amen.
